Sonnet Youth is a literary rave. A poetic piss up – bringing together poets, comedians, musicians, rappers and cabaret acts for a night of no holds barred performances. Curated and hosted by Kevin P. Gilday and Cat Hepburn, Sonnet Youth reinvents live literature for a new generation.
We’ve recently launched SONNET YOUTH SOCIAL CLUB, a fortnightly streamed show on Thursdays at 8:05pm Facebook.com/sonnetyouth
Before lockdown, we curated and hosted a monthly flagship night at the Old Hairdresser’s in Glasgow, the Gilded Balloon Basement in Edinburgh and Creative Stirling. We also run a quarterly Scratch night at Phillies of Shawlands. Sonnet Youth has curated performances for numerous festivals and events (Hidden Door, Belladrum, Pride House) and works closely with some amazing organisations such as Toonspeak Young People’s Theatre for their Word of Mouth writing workshop series.
From 2019 – 2020 we produced the Scottish-wide tour of a spoken word theatre show THICK SKIN, ELASTIC HEART by Drew Taylor-Wilson, dubbed an “Unmissable reflection on theatre as a site of progressive expression” by The List.
In 2019 we took two successful spoken word theatre shows to the Fringe, Suffering from Scottishness (4* The Scotsman) and #GIRLHOOD (5* Feminist Fringe).
In 2018, we directed and produced the UK tour of Victoria McNulty’s solo spoken word Confessionals (4* The Herald).
