‘Sonnet Youth is a literary rave. A poetic piss up – bringing together poets, comedians, musicians, rappers and cabaret acts for a night of no holds barred performances. Curated and hosted by Kevin P. Gilday and Cat Hepburn, Sonnet Youth reinvents live literature for a new generation.’
Between November and June, we curate and host a monthly flagship night at Drygate Brewery in Glasgow, and at the Gilded Balloon Basement in Edinburgh. We also run a quarterly Scratch night at Phillies of Shawlands. Sonnet Youth also curates performances for numerous festivals and events, and work closely with some amazing organisations such as Toonspeak Young People’s Theatre for their Word of Mouth writing workshop series.
We are currently producing a Scottish-wide tour of a spoken word theatre show THICK SKIN, ELASTIC HEART by Drew Taylor-Wilson. It’s the recipient of Creative Scotland’s touring fund and we’re so excited to take it all over the country. More info at Sonnet Youth.
In 2018, we directed and produced the UK tour of Victoria McNulty’s solo spoken word Confessional, receiving a 4 stars review from the Herald.
Details of all of our events are on the Sonnet Youth Facebook page.
